Gasogi United president Charles Nkuriza Kakooza has fired a warning to Rayon Sports that his side will be ready to spoil their Peace Cup celebrations and give them a hard time when the two sides square off in their league opener on Friday, August 18.
The Blues stormed to a convincing 3-0 victory over APR FC on Saturday, August 12, at Kigali Pele Stadium to lift the 2023 Super Cup, their first since 2017 but KNC said his players are only focused on breaking the Blues’ heart when the club returns to action on Friday.
"First let me congratulate you [Rayon Sports] for winning the Super Cup but your happiness won’t take so long because I am going to hurt you on Friday" KNC said
"Brethren Rayon Sports, let me tell you... you are this time going to face a big challenge to get even a point from us," he added
"Our target is simple, to win and, if possible, win big. We can go into the game with the same fighting spirit," he noted
KNC, who is the CEO and proprietor of Radio 1, TV1 Rwanda, and Gasogi United Football Club, stressed that the club has a mixed squad with senior and young players who can compete for the title next season.
Gasogi were once tipped to contend for the league title last season after finishing the first round in the fourth place, just two points behind then table leaders AS Kigali.

However, the team’s mediocre second round saw them finish the league campaign sitting eighth on the table with 43 points.
Gasogi United has been preparing for the new season over the past month and will be coached by French female coach Caroline Pizzala, a former player at both Paris Saint-Germain and Marseilles women's teams.
