Women Sitball team aim for World Championships qualification

National Paralympic of Rwanda have taken the women Sitball national team into early preparations ahead of the World Championship Qualifiers, in Uganda from November 4-11 as they look to qualify for next year’s world meet  in Poland.

National Paralympic of Rwanda have taken the women Sitball national team into early preparations ahead of the World Championship Qualifiers, in Uganda from November 4-11 as they look to qualify for next year’s world meet  in Poland.The teams participating in the Kampala event include; Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Guinea Bissau. It will be the first edition in the women category.Under Coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva, the  team started training at the National Paralympics Committee gymnasium at Amahoro national stadium last week. The team will also be using the World Championships Qualifiers as part of their preparations for the 2016 Paralympics Games in Brazil.NPC-Rwanda Secretary General Eric Karasira said "The men’s team has become a permanent fixture at the world championships, so we need to try and make sure the women also do the same.”"However, in order to achieve that, we must prepare them early enough for the qualifying tournament in Kampala, we need to make sure that the team qualifies for the first women world championships,” he noted.Rwanda men’s Sitball team has taken part in the last three world championships since 2008 and won the world title in 2010 when it was held in Kampala but lost it last weekend after losing to three-time winners, Germany 49-47 in a thrilling final played at Amahoro indoor stadium.
