Jean-Pierre Ndagijimana, the former Nyamasheke Executive Secretary, has been arrested days after he resigned from his position citing personal reasons.

Ndagijimana tendered in his resignation letter on October 10 to the district mayor and officially handed over office. According to Police, he was arrested over cases of corruption. This is the second time he is being arrested over corruption related cases.

In an interview with this paper this week, Ndagijimana said he resigned to pursue his postgraduate studies.

The Western Region Police Spokesperson Superintendent Hamza Vita confirmed the arrest.
