Two robbery suspects handed back to DRC

Rwanda on Tuesday handed over two Congolese suspected to be behind a spate of robberies in their country, to Congo Government officials. The two are wanted by DR Congo over armed robbery cases they committed and fled  to Rwanda.

Rwanda on Tuesday handed over two Congolese suspected to be behind a spate of robberies in their country, to Congo Government officials. The two are wanted by DR Congo over armed robbery cases they committed and fled  to Rwanda.

They were arrested by Rwanda National Police over a week ago at the border district of Rubavu following a request by the DR Congo Government for assistance in apprehending them. According to the regional police Spokesperson in Western Province, Superintendent Amza Vita, the suspects were deported under bilateral collaboration on exchanging suspects.

The Mayor of Rubavu District Sheik Hassan Bahame appealed to DRC officials to reciprocate in the spirit of good neighbourliness. 

Juvenal Ndabereye Senzige, the deputy mayor of Goma town said the gesture would strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
