APR volleyball club assistant coach Alexis Nkuranga has high hopes that the club will bounce back and win the league title next season.

The army side failed to defend the title they had won for two successive seasons after losing to rivals National University of Rwanda 3-0 in the playoffs final on Sunday.

However, the former Christ Roi and Kigali Volleyball Club player, Nkuranga is confident APR will come back in the next season even stronger.

"We are still a very young team full of young Rwandan players, who have not yet gained enough experience playing at this level, but this season has shown us that we have a very good team that can compete on a high level and I promise we will bounce back even stronger next season,” he said.

He noted, "The players should be commended for putting up a tough fight throughout the season. Sometimes, we were not consistent enough but we have to try and get back to our level.”

APR has a good number of young players playing in their national league, so there is hope that if they continue with the current way of doing things, they could achieve more and become a force to reckon with in the coming years.

National University of Rwanda will represent Rwanda in next year’s CAVB Africa Club Championships and APR in the women’s category.
