The men’s national team is expected to start preparations for the FIVB Zone V Men’s Volleyball World Championship qualifiers on October 22.The week-long zonal tournament which is slated to run from November 25 to December 1 in Kigali will attract hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and Egypt, who qualified automatically.Kenyan-born Paul Bitok said, "Preparations are vital such that we can have a strong team which will be in good shape ready to tussle it out for the African spot.”Rwanda will be using the home advantage and they need to win all their encounters to ensure that they land the qualification for the continental show-piece.According to Bitok, a list of professional players which will feature for Rwanda will be known next Friday. Favourite players likely to be summoned include Algeria-based Lawrence Yakan Guma and national team skipper Christophe Mukunzi.Other promising local talents who will be sought for the contest include; GSOB right attacker Nelson Murangwa, APR’s Yves Mutabazi, NUR’s right attacker Olivier Ntagegwa and APR skipper Fred Musoni.The two top teams will qualify for the final Africa qualification round to be held in January 2014 while Egypt has already secured a wildcard to play in the last round.
