Editor,Please allow me to comment on the article, "Confined to bed for 7 years”, published in the Sunday Times on October 13.The situation this woman, Judith Mujawimana, is in shows how far we still have to go to get to the level of nobility and decency as a proud society. Less-qualified doctors cause more harm than good, and no mechanisms are in place to hunt them down.The media is able to bring touching and sensitive cases like this one to public, but are unable to connect the public to the case, for remedy. Yet, you’ll find some of us roaming the streets preaching Christianity, Islam, democracy and more.You can almost and always define a society by looking at how it treats its vulnerable. Since you brought this case to the public, you should’ve asked for public intervention for advocacy, then provide the patient’s address or any means of contacting her –maybe someone, somewhere can do something better than those locals around.AbdulRahman Ntaganda, Kigali, Rwanda********************This is a good, touching piece and I thank The New Times for advocating for this elderly woman.
