The long dry season that has stretched over the whole African continent has to be restrained and kept at bay. The presence of a depleted land with no trees or water is the last thing Africa needs as a continent.

The people of Africa need to learn how to conserve their environment. This is the only dependability of the sub-Saharan states that completely rely on raw materials as their source of income and economic prowess.

The responsible authorities in charge of environmental protection and preservation should educate the masses on practical ways to combat desertification.

Tree planting in Rwanda should especially be encouraged as the green hills are under risk of being wiped out as a result of the population pressures on the land.

When desertification is held back, there is a real possibility that the world food crisis will dissolve. Without deserts the land becomes productive due to the increased amount of rainfall and soil fertility.

This means farmers can reap the fruits of their hard labour and everyone around the world will have a plate full of food to eat from. No more starvation and drought scenes should be witnessed because these are all problems that have real solutions.
