The flames of Malawi will not feature in the regional tourney set for Kenya after Malawi FA suspended all activities for senior and junior teams’ due to luck of funds.

Malawi, invited as a guest side, will not be sending a team to this year’s Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup scheduled for November 27 to December 12 in Kenya.

This is after the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) announced that it has suspended all activities for senior and junior national teams for the rest of the year due to lack of funds.

The move also means the country’s U-20 team will skip Cosafa Youth championships to be held in Lesotho at the end of the year. Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu, who was quoted by local media, said though they are yet to receive an invite to take part in Cecafa, they will not honor the same even if the invitation comes.
