Rayon Sports new signing Rashid Kalisa isn’t taking too much time celebrating the Super Cup as he is now focused on helping the club win the league title for the 2023/24 season.
The Rwanda international opened his goal account on his Blues debut during which he scored the club's second goal of the game from the spot before Ugandan winger Joachiam Ojera cemented a 3-0 victory over APR to lift the 2023 Peace Cup.
The midfielder, who completed his move from AS Kigali in a two year-deal, said that he is hungry to win more trophies with his new club Rayon Sports including the league title which the club last won in 2019.
"I am absolutely delighted to win the Super Cup with Rayon Sports. I am hungry to start the new season and I will give my best to win more trophies here like I did when I passed,” Kalisa said.
"We are capable of winning the league title but it will require us to be in good shape of mind and exhibit much determination against the top teams this season.”
After years at AS Kigali with whom he won the 2022 Super Cup against APR FC, the attacking midfielder, once hailed as the future of Amavubi, believes he has joined an equally big team which deserves to win titles.
"This is a big team which is capable of winning trophies every season, and I have joined them to be part of that success. I already feel at home here, and I can’t wait for the season to start,” the 25 years explained.
Kalisa played for various teams including SEC Academy, Police, Slovakian side MFK Topvar Topoľčany, SC Kiyovu and AS Kigali.
He rose to prominence in 2015 while playing for Police FC, and cemented his profile the following year when Rwanda hosted the 2016 CHAN finals.
He represented the country in various competitions, starting from the U17 national team through to the senior team Amavubi.
