After failing to secure a friendly match against Uganda Cranes this month, Amavubi will face Burundi’s ‘Intamba mu Rugamba’ next month, according to head coach Eric Nshimiyimana. Last month, Rwanda requested for a friendly match against Uganda as a return leg following a game played between the two rivals in February in Kigali, which ended in 2-2 draw. However, there was no positive response from Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic’s team Nshimiyimana told Saturday Sports yesterday, "We had requested for friendly matches from three countries including; Uganda, Kenya and Burundi. But we didn’t get a positive response from Uganda and Kenya, so we agreed with Burundi to play the match in mid November as part of both team’s preparations for the Cecafa Challenge Cup as well as qualifiers for 2015 Africa Nations’ Cup,” he explained. The friendly match will give Nshimiyimana an opportunity to identify his team for the Cecafa Challenge Cup scheduled to be held in Kenya from November 28 to December 12. Rwanda will be looking to doing better in the regional tournament where they reached the quarter finals last year in Kampala. On the other hand, Burundi will be using the Cecafa tournament to prepare for next year’s CHAN finals in South Africa.
