Rwanda National Olympic Committee plan to send the national team to camp in Glasgow ahead of  next year’s Commonwealth Games set for July 23 to August 3 in Scotland.The local Olympic committee’s Secretary Ahmed Habineza told Times Sport recently that they recently visited Glasgow to inspect the venues where foreign teams will camp ahead of the Games."We plan to have the team camp in Glasgow in June, train for a month as they acclimatise to the European weather ahead of the games,” the official told this paper.He added, "We are in talks with the host city about the suitable available centres which can accommodate the Rwandan team. We need to make sure that the facilities for training are suitable for the athletes’ preparations.”With nine months left, local federations have stepped up preparations with support from the local Olympic committee. Federations earmarked to compete in Commonwealth games are preparing their athletes.The Rwandan delegation to the Glasgow Games will be comprised of 40 athletes and officials, competing in cycling, judo, swimming, boxing, athletics and para-sports.Rwanda made its debut at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India, a year after being admitted to the Commonwealth of Nations.bonnie.mugabe@newtimes.co.rwThe country was represented by a delegation of 22 athletes, competing in athletics, boxing, cycling, swimming, and tennis but did not win any medals.Meanwhile, Kigali will, for the first time, host the Queen’s Baton Relay on January 15, 2014, according to the organisers of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
