Rwanda will not compete in the 2013 World Amateur Boxing Championships which start today in Astana, Kazakhstan. Rwanda last competed in the world championships two years ago in Azerbaijan.Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Rwanda Amateur Boxing Association’s technical director and national team head coach Gashugi Kananura confirmed the bad news.He said, "We sent our request for funds to the Ministry of Sports and Culture a bit late. So we could not get the money on time to prepare the team for the world championships.” "It is a big disappointment to miss the world championship because it would have helped our boxers to garner experience for future competitions,” noted Gashugi. Kazakhstan was  confirmed as the host of the 2013 World Boxing Championships by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) recently. The AIBA president Dr Ching-Kuo Wu said, "Kazakhstan is one of the leading nations in boxing, in terms of quality of boxers and in quality of tournaments.”"Hosting the AIBA World Boxing Championships next year is another milestone for the country and we are also  excited about the AIBA World Boxing Academy that is currently being built near Almaty.
