A team of 25 American volunteers on Wednesday toured Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi to pay homage to the thousands of victims interred in there.The contingent is in the country for a two-week working tour, courtesy of the Global Medical Outreach Incorporated, an American faith-based NGO."We are here to witness the kind of devastation the Rwandan people went through, so that when we share these stories back home, people  are encouraged to provide more assistance to the victims here,” said Larry Watts, the team leader. As part of the visit last week, the volunteer team got involved in the treatment of about 2,300 people of different ailments in Kayonza and Bugesera districts, Watts said.Watts said Global Medical Outreach Incorporated have also donated drugs and medical equipment worth $300,000 (about Rwf201 million) to various hospitals in the country."We are visiting this memorial to help our staff understand the kind of people they are dealing with, so as to know how to handle them best,” Watts added.GMOI has also built at least two secondary schools and three wells countrywide ever since it made its first presence in the country in 2009. It has a presence in seven other countries worldwide.
