Solina is not just a popular actress in Rwanda, but also an activist with an interest in social, health and political issues in the country.

Born Marie-Rose Uwimana, she has been acting for over 20 years.
"Since my early age, I used to like acting; I used to act in my secondary school time when I was still a girl till today,” Solina told The New Times in an interview.
She has recently played the lead in Urugamba Nk’Izindi, a movie by Caritus Uwizeye that explores domestic violence. She also plays one of the major roles in The BBC Great Lakes Africa Drama Urunana.
The actress has also been the voice of several advertisements on Radio Rwanda and the private radio Contact FM.
Solina says it makes her happy that her message is passed on to many fans of Urunana although sometimes, her fans mistake her for the characters she plays on the shows, she says.
"At many occasions I have seen and heard people where I pass whispering who I am or what I do, some don’t understand my characters in the community are contrary to what I act in the drama,” Solina says.
In her early forties, Solina a law student at Universite Laique Adventiste de Kigali (UNILAK) is also a hard-working mother with four children. She lives in Nyamirambo, one of the busiest suburbs of Kigali.
