DAR ES SALAAM – We made an error in our lead story of yesterday, July 20 where we reported that APR will face Tusker and Rayon Sports against Simba in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Cecafa/Kagame club championship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Yet in actual sense, it’s the opposite as APR takes on the Tanzanian side (SC Simba) while Rayon meets the Kenyan champions (Tusker Fc). We regret the mistake.

Back today’s quarter-final line-up, APR coach Rene Feller says his players are ready for whatever Simba throws at them for a place in the semi-finals.

After surviving a scare in the preliminaries, defending champions have Tanzania first choice side to contend with as they (APR) seek for a third regional club title, second in a row.

The veteran coach told Times Sport yesterday after the morning training session that his team must win today’s tie because they play the best football among all the teams in the tournament.

The Dutchman, who has been heavily criticized for his laidback approach is spoilt for choice as he has a full strength side to choose from.  

"We have done everything to ensure that we hang on to the title the team won last year in Kigali.

"I have a young side which is hungry for success and I hope they will overcome any challenge. "We have gone through enough preparation for this tournament and I believe we can go further now.”

APR will rely on their sensational duo of Twite twin brothers Mbuyu and Kabenga, who Feller referred to as the best with the magic that would inspire them to reclaiming the club title.

However, striker Abbas Rassou, who was re-signed from Morocco’s Olympic Khouribga is unavailable for the game as he was reported to be heading back to Kigali yesterday.

Rassou had been recalled to the military side to beef up the youth studded side for the two-week long tournament.

This will be the second quarter-final of the day as last year’s losing finalists Uganda Revenue Authority take on Zanzibar representatives Miembeni in the first match.

APR finished third in group C behind Yanga and Miembeni and had to wait for results from group B, to know their fate.

They ended up in the quarters after Awassa City from Ethiopia finished a poorer third behind URA and Rayon.

APR know they have an uphill task against the Dar giants, who have won the Championship a record six times, four more than the Rwandan champions.
