Police and other security agencies must continue to train and learn in order to strengthen preventive mechanisms, the Minister for Internal Security, Sheikh Musa Fazil Harerimana, has said.Sheikh Harerimana was yesterday opening the second intake of Police Senior Command and Staff Course and the Intermediate Command and Staff Course at National Police College, Musanze. The senior command course attracted 26 participants from Burundi, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and hosts Rwanda, while the intermediate commandant and staff course attracted 40 participants, mostly local officers.Harerimana told the participants that criminals have raised their game, and work day and night, taking advantage of information and technology to cause insecurity."You are at the frontline of the war against the crime and must train, learn and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge in command, crime prevention, investigations, public order management and peace and security matters in general,” he said"Intellectual capacity is a tool given and can only be of value once demonstrated or put to better use. You are going to be equipped with a valuable tool that should not only end into graduation but be manifested in your capacity to deliver.”Police Spokesperson Damas Gatare said the course offers knowledge and skills in tactical policing and a global understanding of peace and conflict dimensions.Senior command and staff course graduates will receive certificates and masters in peace studies and conflict transformation.Those in intermediate will receive certificates and diploma in strategic leadership and management offered by the Chartered Management Institute, a UK-based varsity.
