Tennis federation get US$25,000 Kit boost

Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) has received equipment boost valued at US$25,000 (about Rwf16.7 millions) to help developing the sport in the country.

Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) has received equipment boost valued at US$25,000 (about Rwf16.7 millions) to help developing the sport in the country. The equipment donation is a child born out of cooperation between the Rwanda Tennis Federation and 1.TC Hiltrup Tennis Club based in Muenster in Germany.Speaking to Saturday Sport on Thursday, Dr. Ing Eric Ayuk Forchap, a member of the German tennis club said, "The aim of the cooperation is to ensure that there a good players coming from Rwanda, who able to do well in the ITF Futures and other high profile tournaments.” He added, "We have donated this equipment as support to the Rwanda tennis federation to train more players using high standards kits used by their European counterparts.” The chairman of the Rwanda Tennis Federation Theoneste Karenzi, said, "We are grateful to TC Hiltrup for their valuable support. These materials will be given to professional players such that they can train and compete regularly without any hindrance.” The consignment includes tennis rackets (60), bags (60), practicing balls (600), tennis wear (80 pairs), track suits among others meant professional players. According to Karenzi, RTF and TC Hiltrup will sign a Memorandum of Understanding after evaluating the impact created by the consignment. Among the cooperation pact, Forchap and Karenzi both stated that they are discussions to develop a manageable tennis academy in Rwanda.
