Rwanda’s sitball team head coach Elie Manirarora is confident his team will win the 2013 Men’s World Championship, scheduled for October 11-12 in Kigali. As hosts, Rwanda has the home advantage and support to sail through the championships.

"We have prepared well for the championships and we are in good condition physically and mentally. We have good and experienced players, who can make a difference in this tournament,” said Manirarora, who is also the Rwanda National Olympic Committee vice president in charge of competitions.

Rwanda are defending champions, and will be looking to make the most of home advantage to retain the world title. The 12-men team started training almost two weeks in readiness for the tournament.

"We shall be playing at home, we need to be ready and calm, the players are responding well in training and they seem determined to win the title,” Manirarora noted,

NPC have received Rwf30m in sponsorship from the Ministry of Sports and Culture. In addition, Rwanda National Union of Disabilities has contributed Rfw1.5m towards organising the event and Sulfo Rwanda Industries will provide water for the participating teams.

Countries that have confirmed participation include Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Germany (two teams), Kenya, Switzerland, Uganda, and hosts Rwanda.
