Thirteen-times Rwandan league champions APR have appointed former Isonga FC head coach Vincent Mashami as the team’s assistant coach for the next two seasons, Times Sport has learnt.Mashami, who is currently in England for a coaching course was appointed to assist the German head coach Andreas Spier."He has not signed yet but we have chosen him as our assistant coach.Everything will be sorted out with him when he comes back from his course,” the APR spokesperson George Gatete, confirmed the development on Monday.The former U-17 national team assistant coach is expected to return to the country next month to take up his new responsibilities. Gatete added, "He fits well in our structure and we hope this would be a good opportunity for him to develop his coaching career working with the young players, most of whom he knows very well from their days with the U-17 team and Isonga FC.”APR started 2013/14 Turbo King Football league campaign on Sunday with a resounding 6-2 victory over their sister side Marines FC at at Stade de Kigali.Albert Ngabo, Michel Ndahinduka, Nova Bayama, Jean Baptist Mugiraneza ‘Miggy’, Hegman Ngoma and Barnabe Mubumbyi scored for army side, while former Rayon Sports defender Bonaventure Hategikimana and Bertin Dusenge scored for Marines.
