Sugar Prices have dropped marginally, with a kilo going for Rwf650 in some shops and city markets. In Kimihurura Market, a kilogramme of sugar has dropped from Rwf800 to Rwf700, while in Kimironko Market it is at Rwf650.Innocent Bahizi, the chairman of Kimironko Market, attributed the drop to increased domestic sugar supply coupled with ‘more than usual’ imports, noting that the prices could even drop further.A kilo of bananas costs between Rwf165 and Rwf170, millet flour is at Rwf1,220 per kilogramme, while maize flour goes for Rwf670 a kilo in Nyarugenge and Kimironko markets. Irish potatoes are at Rwf200 per kilo in Nyabugogo Market and rice goes for between Rwf700 and Rwf1,000 in Kicukiro and Remera markets, respectively.Tomatoes cost Rwf700 a kilogramme, while carrots are at Rwf 500. Groundnuts are stable at Rwf1,200 per kilo and fresh peas go for Rwf1, 250 a kilogramme in Kimironko market.Beef costs between Rwf2,000 and Rwf2,300 in Remera and Kimironko, laundry soap is at Rwf600 per six grammes, a litre of cooking oil goes for Rwf1,500 and passion fruits cost between Rwf800 and Rwf1,200 a kilogramme, while milk goes for Rwf400 and eggs cost Rwf2,000 a tray.
