An eight-year-old child died on the spot when a truck swerved off the road and rammed into a roadside bar in Kigina Sector, Kirehe District on Saturday.Several people were injured in the accident, according to officials. However, this paper could not readily establish the identity of the deceased by press time.Counting lossesAccording to district authorities, at least eight people were taken to Kirehe District Referral Hospital in serious condition.Oscar Hakizimana, the owner of the bar, said the accident occurred at around 3.30pm, when patrons were already in the bar."The house was demolished and my stock is no more. I am lucky that I am still alive,” he said.Eyewitnesses alleged that the truck first over ran an electric pole before the driver lost control and rammed into the bar.The driver was not hurt and Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
