Competition in the supermarket retail business has gotten tighter with the entry of a new player, Sawa Citi, last week.

"We have the potential to sell quality products to retailers at affordable rates since we get these goods directly from manufacturers,” Belinda Bwiza, the supermarket general manager, said.Sawa Citi joins Simba, Ndoli, Viva and Nakumatt supermarkets in the increasingly competitive business. Bwiza started the store with other two partners, Théogène Kubwimana and Alex Muganwa. They employ 50 workers presently.City dwellers said more supermarkets bring product diversity and eases their shopping. "The competition will ensure better services,” said Moussa Habineza, a city resident during the commissioning of the Kimihurura-based supermarket on Friday.
