RWANDA Football Federation (Ferwafa) has confirmed that Amavubi Stars will play a friendly game against Uganda Cranes on October 15 at Namboole national stadium in Kampala.Ferwafa chairman Celestin Ntagungira told Saturday Sport yesterday that the match will be a return leg following the friendly between the two sides in Kigali in February. The match will give Amavubi coach Eric Nshimiyimana an opportunity to identify his squad for the Cecafa Challenge Cup due in Kenya from November 28 through December 12.In February, Cranes held Amavubi to 2-all draw at Amahoro stadium. It was the first the two teams had played each other since Uganda beat Rwanda 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the 2011 Cecafa senior Challenge Cup final in Dar es Salaam.Uganda Cranes will be looking to use the game as part of their preparations for Cecafa and Africa Nations Championships (Chan) set for next January in South Africa.Uganda Cranes are now coached by Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, the man who was at the helm at Amavubi Stars during the last friendly in Kigali. It will be the first time the Serb reunites with Amavubi – but as opponents – since both sides parted ways back in April, 2013.Uganda are also expected to play an international friendly against Iraq next Wednesday in Jordan. The Cranes are still reeling from their elimination from the 2014 World Cup qualification campaign – at the hands of Senegal.Amavubi Stars were eliminated from the same qualifiers much earlier when Micho was still in charge.
