MAJOR GENERAL Jack Musemakweli is the new chairman of the 13-time league champions, APR FC ahead of the start of 2013/14 Turbo National Football League which gets underway this weekend. Gen. Musemakweli replaces Maj. Gen. Alex Kagame, who is reported to be in China on official duties.

Confirming the development, the club’s spokesperson George Gatete said this week that Gen. Musemakweli will handle the club’s management affairs in the upcoming season.

The military side, which has been busy in the transfer market and one of the favourites for the league title next season, will open their campaign against Marines on Sunday at Kicukiro ground.

The club has made major recruitments which include striker Michel Ndahinduka from Bugesera, Ernest Sugira from AS Muhanga, Charles Tibingana from Victoria University in Uganda, Patrick Sibomana and goalie Olivier Kwizera, both from Isonga FC.

The club will also give a chance to some of their academy players such as Suleiman Kakira and Eric Rutanga among others in bid to improve their competitive levels.

After ending years using foreign players, last season, the Black and White side took the decision to use only Rwandan players.

Consequently, Rwanda’s most successful football club ended the season empty-handed for the first time since 1996.
