Disi finishes fourth in France half marathon

Rwanda’S veteran long distance runner Dieudonne Disi proved that he is still going strong when he finished in fourth position in the 2013 France half marathon in Belfort over the weekend.Disi clocked one hour, five minutes and 22 minutes in a race that was won by Moroccan naturalised French runner Meftah Abdellatif.Abellatif clocked 1’04”20”’, while the first and second runners-up, Kenyan duo of Ruben Iindongo and James Theuri Kibocha, clocked 1’04”35”’ and 1’04”43”’, respectively.Speaking to Times Sport, Disi, who had finished fifth in Suresnes 10km race mid this month said, "This is a good performance for me because it was a tight race. I might not have finished on the podium but I am happy with my comeback.”"I am training hard so I can represent Rwanda in next year’s Commonwealth Games (in Scotland), and with my current performances, I think I will be able to make the Team Rwanda for the Games,” added Disi.Another Rwandan, Gervais Hakizimana, finished in eighth position after clocking one hour, seven minutes and 30 seconds.Since relinquishing his administrative role in the Rwanda Athletics Federation last year, Disi, the country’s most successful athlete of all time, has competed in different competitions, mostly in Europe.Earlier this year, he finished fourth in the Bii Maybank Bali Marathon in Indonesia.Disi last participated in a major international competition in 2010 during the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
