Heavy rains coupled with hailstorm have destroyed crops in several districts in the Eastern Province since Friday.

Hundreds of acres of banana plantations as well as houses and other property were left in ruins, according to residents.

In Rwamagana District, the most affected sectors are Fumbwe, Musha and Muyumbo.

Reports of hailstorm were also received from Murundi, Rukara and other sectors in Kayonza District.

The mayors of Kayonza, Rwamagana and Ngoma districts, also told The New Times, said that the situation was alarming in some villages.
