THE CLASH between two former champions Gicumbi and APR at the former’s ground will highlight the return of the national handball league on Sunday after a two-month halt.
The main reason for the two-month break in-between the league was to allow the women’s junior team prepare and participate, for the first time in the African Women’s Junior Championships held in Oyo, Congo Brazzaville from August 31 to September 9.
In other matches today, GS Rambura hosts fourth-placed ES Kigoma, while Rubavu-Police team take on Nyakabanda.
Last Sunday, former champions APR handball club beat 36-27 GS Rambura in rescheduled league match that was initially supposed to take place in July before the two-month break.
As it stands, Police and Gicumbi with 27 points respectively but Police are top thanks to their first round victory over their rivals. Former champions APR are third with 24 points, while ES Kigoma stand in fourth position with 20 points.
