A Muhanga-based private school, Ahazaza Independent School, has launched an entertainment centre that will serve as a one-stop entertainment venue in the district.Ahazaza centre, named after the school itself, was officially launched on Thursday in the presence of local residents, students and local authorities.Located in the heart of Muhanga town, Ahazaza centre offers facilities for hosting conferences, music concerts, movie screening, sports activities as well as a range of ceremonies and events. It also has a bar and restaurant and will offer cultural products including trainings in musical instruments as well as traditional music and dance.The centre will be open to the public according to Raina Luff, the founder of Ahazaza Independent School.Luff said by creating the school they wanted to contribute to developing Rwanda’s education sector by proving high-quality education.She noted that the entertainment centre will help them to raise money to support children education while at the same time offering a chance to local residents to access a diversified list of entertainment products closer."By establishing this centre, we hope it will help generate revenues towards making this school a self-sustaining entity,” Luff said.Muhanga district vice mayor for social affairs Fortunée Mukagatana commended the school for its contribution to providing quality education to children."We hope that you will continue to move forward towards championing quality education for Rwanda’s children and promoting Rwanda’s values amongst them,” Mukagatana said.Over the past few months, Ahazaza centre has played host to several local artistes, such as Gakondo traditional troupe, R&B duo Dream Boys and Khizz, among others.Residents say that they believe the official launch of the centre will mark another milestone in the development of the entertainment sector in Muhanga, a town which has seen tremendous infrastructure development and population boost over the past few years.jp.bucyensenge@newtimes.co.rw
