The Silverbacks are placed in Pool E alongside South African outfit Western Province, Kenya Shujaa, and Mwamba. Rwanda, who had no time to carry out preparations after landing a last minute invite, must be ready for a tough task ahead of overpowering South African outfit, Western Province, hosts Shujaa and local club Mwamba if they are to reach the quarterfinals. In Pool A, Kenyan team, Moran is placed alongside Western Bulls, Botswana and Zambia with both host sides (Shujaa and Moran) tipped to contest the Main Cup on Sunday in a dream final for organisers. This year will crown a new champion since the title holders, South Africa’s Elite Players’ Development (EPD) did not turn up for the event that commences today. Australia Renegades are seeded second in Pool B with Uganda, Safaricom Sevens Series winners KCB and Nakuru, while Fijian side Samurai will battle it out with Belgium, Kenya Sevens Academy and another local side Impala in Pool C. England Royals and Grenoble from France face each other in Pool D along with domestic teams Kenya Harlequins and Homeboyz. In schools competition, Rwanda U-19 side will face Nairobi, Rift Valley, Eastern and Kyadondo in Pool B while Pool A is made up of Western Central, Nyanza, Coast and Tanzania respectively.The tournament kicks off today at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani with Schools’ competition taking center stage before the main cup competition starts on Saturday morning.
