INTEGRATED Polytechnic Regional Center (IPRC) booked a place in the final of this year’s girl’s schools cricket week tournament slated to be played on Saturday at Kagarama.
The girl’s school’s cricket week kicked off last weekend with a total of 5 schools taking part. The tournament which was organised on a round robin basis saw Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center (IPRC) win three games and secured a draw against ADB Nyarutarama on Saturday after it rained, forcing the umpires to call off the game. IPRC captain Uwimana Egidia who scored 68 runs not out in their first game against Apred Ndera said, "We are happy for having achieved our main goal of qualifying for the finals.” IPRC 117/3 beat G.S Giporoso by 114 runs / 7 wickets; IPRC 162/3 in 20 overs beat Apred Ndera 73 all out in 15 overs; IPRC 57 all out in 12 overs beat Kagarama SS 31 all out in 10.2 overs but their game against ADB was interrupted by rain and had to share the points. In other games, Kagarama SS won their first game against Apred Ndera by 31 runs; ADB Nyarutarama 91/9 in 15 overs beat G.S Giporoso 87 all out; ADB Nyarutarama 38/7 in 16 overs lost to Apred Ndera 39/3 in 9.5 overs while the Apred Ndera-G.S Giporoso game ended prematurely due to rains and the two teams were awarded two points each. The tournament continues today with Kagarama SS playing against G.S. Giporoso. The other finalist which will be picked from either Kagarama SS, G.S Giporoso and Apred Ndera will be known by Saturday morning before the final match in the afternoon.
