RWANDA’S leading professional golfer Jean Baptiste Hakizimana is expected to leave for the international golf competitions ‘Asian Golf Tour’ this Thursday. The tour runs from September 26 to late November in different Countries of Asia. TheAsian Golf Tour is scheduled to take place in different parts like Dubai, Saud Arabia and Qatar among others. The 2011 Uganda Golf Open winner, Hakizimana who will compete in six tournaments departs early to acclimatize before he kicks-off the quest for European Golf Tour qualification on September 26. "I am supposed to take my flight to Dubai for this year’s Asian Golf Tour on Thursday and my first competition is scheduled on September 26. I will spend two months taking part in different competitions.” He said his first target is to qualify for the European Golf Tour . "My dream is to compete in Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Tour and this is a good chance for me to expose my abilities while competing against the world elite golfers,” added Hakizimana. Hakizimana’s trip will be sponsored by Balcon country golf club based in Muhazi and Tele10. The Mena golf tour, a largely self-funded entity, has maintained the prize fund per tournament at US$50,000, although the season-ending Tour Championship in Al Ain will again be set at $75,000.
