As students, when you mention education or school the first things that come into our minds are; how school days are long, the assignments and exams that never end not forgetting how hard it is just getting up each morning to go to school. But since we are all aware that our future depends mainly on our education, we have to bear the difficulties that come with it and focus on the bigger picture. We have to make an effort to get a good education while we still can. I know some of my fellow students have different attitudes towards education but eventually they all come to the same conclusion that education is an essential part in our lives and without it, good life in future would be in vain.According to Diana Ingabire, a senior 6 student, studying for long hours on end sounds terrible but still it has to be done in order for one to secure a promising future after school.Our teacher once noted that those who do not care about education end up with poor paying jobs, or worse, no job at all. Getting an education opens the doors to good opportunities that can lead to well paying jobs. Indeed I have to agree with my teacher’s observation. It is obvious that today’s jobs and opportunities greatly depend on education that one acquires from school and also the relevant experience.Some time back a friend of mine said that going to university is not his dream at all since according to him, it was just a continuation of the ‘suffering’ that one goes through during high school. Such attitudes are indeed unfortunate because if one wants to enjoy life then he/she must first ‘suffer’ with books in school.More so, our headmaster, Mr. Samuel Nkurunziza once pointed out that, "Let it be buried in your mind that without an education, you will never get anywhere in life. So dropping out should not be an option. Later, when you are seated in that corner office with a personal assistant to attend to your every need you will smile and confirm that it was all worth it.”  My former English teacher, Betty Mukashema recently told me that, getting an education doesn’t just help the mind, but also helps students on how to deal with people. School is a social platform. Whether it is a group project or just our every day exchanges, you stand a bigger chance to develop your social skills and make friends while at school.
