LAST SEASON’s Most Valuable Player, Aristide Mugabe scored 40 points for Espoir as the champions thumped rivals Cercle Sportive de Kigali (CSK) 89-49 in the basketball national league Friday evening at Amahoro indoor stadium.
It was the first match of second round and national team skipper Mugabe proved to be the biggest deference between the two teams to keep Espoir, who remain unbeaten in the league since the start of last season, at the top of the table with 14 points. Olivier Shyaka scored 15 points.
On Sunday, former champions Kigali Basketball Club host second-placed Rusizi at S.O.S courts in Kacyiru, starting at 9am, while Circle Sportive de Kigali takes on 30-Plus at Amahoro indoor stadium.
Meanwhile in women’s category, defending champions APR continued their dominance over rivals, Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) with a 53-40 win on Saturday. The two side will meet again on Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium, beginning at 10am.
