SECOND DIVISION side, Isonga Football Club have plans to play a series of pre-season friendly matches against top division teams as the team prepares for second division league, which starts in November."We are planning to play a series of build-up matches with top first division teams and also, if the budget allows, we want to play against some regional teams as part of the teams’ preparation for next season in the second division,” the club’s Secretary General, Sandra Muhimpundu told this paper recently.Isonga released all but a handful of the whole squad that failed to help the team to avoid relegation from the top flight division last season. Some of the top teams that Isonga could play with include; APR and AS Kigali among others. The club which forms the core of the current U-20 national team has started the process to find new players from local academies and talent detection centers to replace the players, who were released.Isonga FC was founded two years ago as a composition of players, who played in the U-17 African Youth Championship and the Fifa World Cup.The club was promoted to the U-20 level and registered to play in the national league without going through the second division.Under Eric Nshimiyimana, they did so well and finished a respectable sixth in their debut season but failed to maintain that impressive form in the 2012/13 season, which saw them relegated along with Etincelles, who have since been reinstated following the withdraw of La Jeunnese from the national league.
