“Carpets roll for league top performers tonight”

THE 2012/13 football season best players and top scorers in both men and women categories will be awarded today evening at a grand gala at Sports View Hotel. The awards will be hosted under the patronage of Rwanda Football Federation, Ferwafa. Pre-selection of the eight finalists in both men and women categories was done last week, by the technical commission. The male finalists vying for the top award include; APR defensive midfielder Jean Baptist Mugiraneza, Rayon Sports forward Amiss Cedric, Musanze FC defender Mohamed Mpozembizi and Bugesera FC (second division) striker Michel Ndahinduka, who joined APR in the current transfer window. The women’s category has; Jolie Mbarushimana (APR), forward Shadia Uwamahirwe and midfielder Anne Marie Ibangarye (both AS Kigali) and midfielder Alice Niyoyita (Kamonyi).Top scorers set for golden bootsTop scorers in the Primus league, second division league and women football league for the 2012/13 season will also be honored. The players to be awarded golden boot are; Rayon Sport’s Cedric Hamissi, who finished last season with 16 goals; APR’s Jolie Mbarushimana, who topped the women league with 25 goals, while Etoile de l’est striker Zuberi Ntirenganya topped the second division league with 15 goals. The best players were nominated by sports journalists, captains and coaches of first and second division clubs as well as the women football league club. Rayon Sports striker Labama Bokota Kamana won the first ever best male player award in 2007 and Police’s Meddie Kagere was voted the best player for 2010/2011 season.
