SIX schools have qualified to take part in this year’s girl’s schools cricket week tournament scheduled for September 14 to 21. According to Rwanda Cricket Association general manager Joshua Mwanja, the top cricket playing schools expected to battle for the title include; defending champions IPRC, Efotec, G.S Giporoso, ADB Nyarutarama, Apred Ndera and Kagarama SS. The National Olympic Committe injected over 600,000 francs towards the girl’s tournament. The tournament will be held on Kagarama, ADB and IPRC school grounds to popularise the game in the schools. Meanwhile the tournament will act as a talent identification platform to identify a potential team which will represent Rwanda in the upcoming Africa U19 Girl’s tournament to be played from December 7-9 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Elsewhere, the UAE Exchange & Xpress Money T20 Finals for the men and women will be held next weekend. In the women’s final, Queens of Victory will play Charity CC.
