Amazing how my subconscious is hurling insults at me as I plan to tackle this controversial subject of female condoms, I mean it keeps whispering that there is a war in Syria and President Obama just called for a military intervention, do I care? Yes I do!
Amazing how my subconscious is hurling insults at me as I plan to tackle this controversial subject of female condoms, I mean it keeps whispering that there is a war in Syria and President Obama just called for a military intervention, do I care? Yes I do!And yet I refuse and stubbornly continue to type what other people will consider trivial and maybe irrelevant. Anyway, on the September 16, we are all going to celebrate the international female condoms day, a day most people do not know about and I am almost certain very few people have sat down to think about the usage of female condoms.I was a signed a small task recently to find out what women think about female condoms and my findings were very interesting. However, I chose to ask myself the question first. What was my take on female condoms? Would I use them? I needed answers from myself before I went out asking people this rather unsettling question.Honestly I found it difficult imagining myself inserting that rather ugly piece of latex up my ‘lady business’. I mean have you seen how ugly a female condom is?But wait, the male condom does not look any better, and yet I would rather tolerate a male condom. My excuse is social construction, I was socially constructed to believe that the male condom is better than the female, and so were you perhaps. My findings were not far from what I felt about the female condoms; most people that were brave enough to engage in the conversation told me exactly what I thought they would. The conversation was going alright, until one person said something that got my blood boiling. "No man would ever accept that” Excuse me? In this day and age women still consider men before they make their own decisions, and I thought this whole sexual rights thing was real but clearly some women still have deep embedded insecurities that still make them believe that they need men’s approval to do what they want, how about your own sexual rights? It is alright to discuss with your partner what kind of method to use but it is not alright to give men the power to decide, they don’t deserve it. That said, some people raised the issue of how it can be very rough, dry and unappealing but if that’s the case, get a lubricant if you are interested in using the female condoms.
