Editor,I do believe that the church (or any other religious community) has a role in politics. Church members influence how society is managed (this is politics), especially in the moral aspect. The church should always play a prophetic role, i.e. when society is heading in the wrong direction the church should advocate for the right course. The church should also provide civic education to its members so they could become good citizens (tolerant, fighting corruption and social divisions…)Doesn’t that constitute some aspects of politics? Certainly yes. However, once they choose to fully go into administrative politics, church leaders should resign from their religious positions.Victor, KigaliReaction to the story, "Should the Church meddle in politics?” (Sunday Times, September 8)
