TIG is not punishment

Dear Editor,

I would like to appreciate the work of TIG in our community.

The community work that the prisoners do is not as bad as some people would like us to believe. These prisoners are actually benefiting from all the labour they are giving.

TIG should be viewed as a stepping-stone for development in a society. Imagine if these prisoners are finally set free and they cannot do anything with their hands to survive.

TIG has helped prisoners to develop skills that will help them and the country at large.

Instead of the death sentence as is the case in some countries, Rwanda did well to enforce TIG, which is a very lenient and developmental way of punishing remorseful criminals.

This example should be followed by other countries because harsh punishment is not always the answer.
