Perennial archrivals Kigali and Challenger Cricket clubs will once again renew their enmity in the final of the 2013 UAE Exchange & Xpress Money T20 league.Both teams reached the final after staging impressive performances in their respective semi -final matches played on Sunday. Challengers showed their hunger for a third title of the year as they beat Telugu CC.Challengers, who have already claimed the Naidu Cup and Computer Point title, won the toss and opted to bat first and scored 180/6. Telugu bowlers gave very little challenge as Challengers batsmen went at a high run rate of 10 runs per ova in the first 12 overs. Sairam Gopalan top scored with 47 runs.In Telugu CC’s chase, a good opening partnership of Eric Ndangamyambi (38 runs) and Shiva Samba (32 runs) was let down by the middle order that failed to build on the good start.Challengers’ bowlers Mehbub Shaikh and Feroz Shaikh did the most damage to Telugu batsmen, claiming 2 and 3 wickets respectively.In the other semi-final, Kigali shocked favourites Kerala Hunters by 6 wickets.Without star batsman Suveesh Kottemmal, Kerala Hunters posted a meager score of 90 runs and in response, Kigali CC made 92 runs in just 11 overs.KCC captain Hassan Zaki, who made 33 runs and was named man of the match said, "Our bowlers stuck to our plan of restricting them to a small score that we would chase easily.”In the women’s game played on Saturday, Kigali Angels won their first game in the UAE Exchange & Xpress Money T20 league when they beat Charity CC by 81 runs. KACC batted first and posted 176 Runs for 3 wickets. Kigali Angels will meet Queens of Victory in the final.Both finals will be played on September 22 at Kicukiro cricket oval.
