Even without concerts, Kigali’s showbiz continues to entertain Rwandans with incidents, developments and hot gossip.
In this article, The New Times looks at stories that made headlines in Rwanda’s world of showbiz over the past week.
Muyoboke survives car accident in Uganda
The music industry fraternity would be mourning Alex Muyoboke had he and his three colleagues not survived a horrible car accident that took place last week in Kabale, while on their way back to Kigali.
We thank God that the renowned music manager is safe and sound.
Muyoboke traveled with musician The Ben to Kampala a week ago where the singer was due to perform at Victoria University Graduation Festival 2022 held on Saturday, September 3, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in the Ugandan Capital.
As Muyoboke and three other friends were travelling back to Kigali on Monday, September 5, a Jaguar Transport Agency bus lost control and hit their car in an incident that could have killed them all.
It’s a scenario during which the veteran insists he had seen God who he is convinced saved his life and his colleagues although their car was severely damaged.
Miss Rwanda queens gather to support Patriots
It was a night like no other when former Miss Rwanda queens were reunited watching a basketball game together at BK Arena.
Miss Rwanda 2012 Aurore Mutesi Kayibanda, Miss Rwanda 2014 Colombe Akiwacu, Jolly Mutesi, Meghan Nimwiza and Naomi Nishimwe who won the crown in 2016, 2019 and 2020 respectively, were pictured in the Arena supporting the Patriots during their Game 1 of the Rwanda Basketball League against Rwanda Energy Group which they went on to win.
Their pictures together donned in Patriots T-shirts attracted so many people not social media, their gesture was highly hailed by the club fans.
The fact that they were seen supporting one team remains unclear, prompting many to suspect that they could have been in business with the club which is now striving to win the national basketball league and book a ticket to represent the country at next season’s Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Kigali’s hot couple splits...again
Fitness trainer Laurien Izere, who is known by many as ‘The Trainer’, last week announced that his relationship with top model Keza is over just days after they were spotted fighting in a bar in Kigali.
The duo has been leading the showbiz corner as one of the most popular couples over the past year until their relationship story marked a sad ending for their fans.
The breakup comes just five months after Keza said ‘YES’ to The Trainer and were looking forward to getting married.
But don’t be surprised when you see them reunited again, having done the same in March, a month after they broke up in February this year.
The duo has unfollowed each other on their social media since their breakup, with many confirming the end of their relationship.
Nel Ngabo meets The Ben in Edmonton
After a successful concert in Montreal, fast-rising singer Nel Ngabo last weekend shifted his performance some 2000 miles to Edmonton in a concert during which he met fellow Rwandan musician The Ben.
The duo was filmed chilling together before entertaining the Rwandan community in Canada who gathered in Edmonton to see the duo exchanging the stage and music in fashionable manner.
Nel Ngabo’s concert tour has helped him discover how much the music world outside of Rwanda loves his music and that pushed him and his manager Clement Ishimwe to invest more money, time and effort in his music having realized that he can be a music that Africa’s renowned musicians like The Ben would be proud to share a stage with just like they did in Edmonton in a concert that attracted hundreds from the Rwandan diaspora in Canada.
The singer dropped his new track ‘Kigali’ just hours before his performance.
