Nyanza Fc stormed the second division quarterfinals after hitting rivals La Jeunesse 4-1 on Wednesday in Nyanza.

The visitors took a first minute lead through Didier Mudeyi but two goals in quick succession from Augustine Ntamanka (44) and Ayubu Hakizimana (45) gave the hosts a 2-1 half time lead.

Samuel Bigirimana (50) and Sasha Hassan (88) added the third and fourth as the Southern Province reached the last eight, joining NUR, La Jeunesse and Amagaju from group A.

La Jeunesse head coach Abdul Karim Mukiza admitted defeat and hailed his opponents as a good side that deserved the three points.

He said, "Nyanza is a strong team, they played their best football and being behind their home fans played a big role in their win,” Mukiza admitted.

In the other game played on Wednesday Espoir defeated Pepinier 2-0 to cement fourth position in group B and a place in the quarter-finals where they join Muhanga, Musanze and Zebra.
