Editor,I wish to share my view on some of the comments that were posted below the online version on the story ‘Why Rukumbura left Canada to viefor a seat in parliament’, (The New Times, September 5). Well, I am afraid to say that there are readers who posted so cheap and shallow comments on this article. RPF parliamentary candidate John Rukumbura didn’t say he is doing Rwanda a favour or that he has an ulterior motivation as suggested by some. Like all Rwandans who have their country at heart, he is there to serve the people of Rwanda as he always did even when he was overseas.Certainly, I found Rukumbura a patriot that I am proud of, and a man who can serve his country. Rwanda doesn’t owe us or any one a favour, we do however owe it favours – whether we are in the country or abroad. As our President tells us and preaches by example, let’s not be small minded or narrow our dreams and contributions. We all have a collective and permanent responsibility towards our country. As for Rukumbura, please continue dreaming of serving our great nation even more, in or outside the Parliament. From near and far we are with you. Within and abroad we will continue to build our country.André Shyamba, Victoria Cananda
