THE 2013 Cecafa Kagame Cup tournament best player Christian Mbirizi has completed his move to Primus league side SC Kiyovu on a two-year contract from Burundian champions Vital’O.SC Kiyovu chairman Norbert Sendege confirmed the development yesterday. He said, "Mbirizi is a good player who was appreciated by coach Gilbert Kanyankole Yaounde.”The deal means Mbirizi rejoins his former coach Yaounde and teammate defensive midfielder Yusuf Murekezi, who signed for the old giants early this week."We are in talks with a few other players like Ali Mousa, Jean Marie Girukwishaka and Michel Girukwishaka and if everything goes well, we will sign them before the upcoming season,” added Sendenge.Mbirizi was pivotal in Vital’O’s triumph at the Cecafa Kagame Cup club competition in Darfur, Sudan this year. He scored the winning goal in their 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s APR in the final, sealing the Burundian side’s first ever Cecafa title.
Kiyovu, who finished in a distant eighth position with 34 points last season, have already signed Sec Academy pair of striker Blaise Itangiteka and midfielder Didier Harerimana, Congolese-born centre back Mukamba from Etincelles as well the La Jeunesse trio of Ali Kayambe, Yusuf Munyakayanza and Jimmy Kakure.
