RWANDA’s six junior karate players on the weekend booked places to this year’s World Junior Karate Championships in Spain from November 11 to 18.They earned qualifications from the African Junior Championships staged in Tunisia last week where four of them won bronze medals, while the other two were beaten in quarter-finals but they had qualified.Four bronze medals winners were Jeanne d’Arc Umumararungu, Solange Ingabire, Aisha Umuhoza and Alphani Nsabimana while beaten quarter-finalists were Christian Rurangayire and Vanily Ngarambe. In an interview with Times Sport, Rwanda Karate Federation’s (Ferwaka) technical director, who was in charge of the team in Tunis, Didier Guy Rurangayire confirmed the team’s feat."It is a pleasure for the whole of Rwandan karate family, we are proud of the four bronze medalists and the two guys who didn’t win a medal but still qualified for the world championships,” he added. However, there is a concern that some of the lads might miss the championship since it will take place at a time they will be sitting their Senior Six examinations.
