CERCLE Sportif de Kigali tennis club will take on the visiting Ikoyi tennis club from Nigeria in a three-day tournament which kicks off today at Cercle Sportif courts in Rugunga courtesy of RwandAir Express.

According to RwandAir officials, the two clubs from the opposite sides of the continent decided to join hands in promoting unity of the two nations through the sport of tennis. The Okoyi delegation arrived in Kigali on Wednesday aboard RwandAir’s.

Cercle Sportif de Kigali is one of the oldest sports clubs as well as one of the most well known establishments of its kind in Rwanda which was formed in 1972.

Ikoyi is an elite social club that was founded in 1938. It was formerly called European club and later changed to Ikoyi club when the colonial master left Nigeria in 1960. Its members consist of business tycoons and chief executives of companies in Nigeria.

Every quarter, the tennis team which was created for business men to relax after a long day of work, travelled to different countries of the world to play their counterparts in the chosen countries on friendly motives.

This year, Rwanda has been chosen as the gold mine because of its safe land and business opportunities, and while in the country, they will also mix with the private sector and business men in Rwanda for future opportunities.
