SC Kiyovu has signed Rwandan defensive midfielder Yusuf ‘Rure’ Murekezi. The Primus national league side is also in talks with two Burundian players, all from Vital’O.
According to Kiyovu’s head coach Gilbert Kanyankore Yaoundé, the 25-year old Murekezi has signed two-year deal, while the other two players, both midfielders; 27-year-old Christian Mbirizi and 23-years-old Ali Mousa are expected to sign anytime soon.
Yaoundé has raided his former club for two other Rwandan youngsters, who include; an 18-year-old winger Jean Marie Girukwishaka and his elder brother, 22-year old defender Michel Girukwishaka.
Yaoundé, who guided the Burundian league champions to their first ever Cecafa Kagame Cup title this year in Darfur after beating APR FC 2-0 in the final, said that while the club is still talking to both Mbirizi and Ali, for the Girukwishaka brothers, it is a done deal.
"If we can get all these players, I think we will have a really good squad to compete for trophies next season, we are looking at other targets from local teams,” the former Rayon Sports and Vital’O coach told Times Sport.
The Nyamirambo-based side has already signed Sec Academy striker Blaise Itangiteka and midfielder Didier Harerimana, Congolese-born centre back Mukamba from Etincelles as well the La Jeunesse trio of Ali Kayambe, Yusuf Munyakayanza and Jimmy Kakure.
