African junior handball champsMondayAngola 58 - 11 RwandaRWANDA’S under-19 women’s handball team had a poor start to the African women’s junior handball championship losing 11-58 to superior Angola in their Group A opening match on Monday in Oyo, Congo-Brazzaville.The national team, the only debutants in the 19th edition of the tournament, was overpowered from the start until the end.First half ended with 25-5 in favour of Angola who went on to put the game beyond Rwanda’s reach.Rwanda Handball Federation secretary general Alfred Twahirwa, in a telephone interview with Times Sport from Oyo, conceded, "Angola dominated the game and were simply the better side.”By press time, Rwanda was due to face DRC in Group A following the last minute withdrawal of Algeria."We still have a chance to qualify for next year’s World Championship. We are going to do everything possible and overcome the DRC hurdle,” he noted.Hosts Congo-Brazzaville are the defending champions after winning the 18th edition in 2011 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
