UNDER-19 national women’s handball team face-off 2011 finalists Angola in the first group A match at the African juniors’ championship that starts today in Oyo, Congo Brazaville. 

The Rwanda team that left the country on Thursday had two light training sessions on Friday and Saturday. 

Participating in the African women’s junior championships for the first time, Rwanda’s head coach Francois Xavier Ngarambe is confident about his team chances of marking a memorable debut and qualify for next year’s world junior championships to be held in Brazil.

"We have had enough preparations for the tournament and we will do everything possible to go past group stages and qualify for next year’s world championships,” Ngarambe told this paper before the team’s departure. 

Rwanda is drawn in Group A alongside DR Congo, Algeria and Angola. In Group B that includes;  the hosts and defending champions, Congo Brazaville, Tunisia, Mali and Equatorial Guinea. Rwandans take on Algeria tomorrow before winding-up their group matches on Tuesday against neighbors DR Congo.
